2018 went by quick! Here at Centre Music House, there were a lot of exciting events that happened in 2018.
As you know, Centre Music House has been the music hub of Framingham for 45 years. Even after all that time, we are continually amazed at the talents of our students. Watching the Student Showcases in Spring and Fall this year really hammered this point home. The dedication, hard work, and courage it took for our students to get on stage and perform is astounding. Check out the gallery at the bottom of this page for pictures from the most recent Student Showcase in December!
We had another successful year of our Rock Band Adventure Camp. This is a week-long immersive experience for our young students to learn what it takes to be in a band. During each session, the kids stepped up and put in the hard work which resulted in several exciting performances and entertaining videos filmed at Access Framingham.
We also started our House Band program to provide our more advanced students a band experience focusing on live performances. The program culminates in a concert to benefit a local charity. The inaugural house band, Alt-Hideaway, featured Jack Mooney, Devin Cox, Max Davino, Suzanna Sarkar, and Jenny Sturim. These kids rocked the first OktoberFest in downtown Framingham, amazed at Open Mic Nights, and blew everyone’s minds at the Timothy’s Toy Box Benefit Concert. The benefit concert raised over $1000 for Framingham-based charity, Timothy’s Toy Box, more than doubling the goal! This spring, the House Band program will be expanding to two bands and many more performances.
In September, our long running Open Mic Night moved to Sofa Café in downtown Framingham. Teaming up with Sofa Café for this monthly series has been fantastic. The turnout has been overwhelmingly great. Over the first 3 events, we have seen many fantastic performances from long-running, as well as new, participants. We start our new season of Open Mic Nights on January 25th.
We also announced Brewkulele! Brewkulele is an event out with friends which is centered around learning a song on the ukulele while enjoying the venue’s offerings. Our first event will take place on January 17th at Exhibit A. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased here.
We want to say thank you to everybody who has been on this crazy ride with us over the years. We are looking forward to many, many more!
